Lavaca St Bar & Hog Island Deli. Located just north of Halcyon on lavaca, Lavaca St Bar is a fun laid back environment for all to enjoy. Hog Island Deli has some good stuff too, try the Philly Cheesesteak. You won't regret it.

Halcyon Coffeehouse. They have coffee, a huge selection of liquors, and even a small walk-in cigar humidor. Cool spot right at the intersection to hang inside, or out.

The Ginger Man

The original Ginger Man at 304 W 4th closed it's doors not long ago. They had well over 100 beers on tap inside and a beer garden out back. They moved down the street to a new location.

New Location at 301 Lavaca. They supposedly kept close to the original with the inside pub feel. Haven't been in yet, but will soon. Also has a beer garden too. Can't wait to see it.

West 6th Watering Holes

Annie's West is at 706 W 6th. And as you can see J Black's and The Ranch is literally just a hop, jump, and a skip away. These 3 places get super packed on the weekends. Sometimes there will be lines a block long like the nightclubs in Las Vegas.

Little Woodrow's. 520 W 6th. Lots of patio space and they really fill up with people on the weekends. Lots of wine and draft beers on tap.

KeyBar Austin. Awesome hangout located at 617 W 6th. They have outdoor patio smoking and can open the entire bar up for climate changes. They keep it open with misting fans on during the summer months and closed with heaters during winter. Very cool place.

2nd Street Shopping District

Intersection of 2nd & Lavaca facing East. Lots of shops on both sides with restaurants too.

Austin City Hall is also in the Shopping District.

Lamberts Barbecue. Located at 2nd & Guadalupe. It's supposed to be good stuff but I haven't tried it yet.

Intersection of 2nd & San Antonio facing East. There's several home decor shops on the right and restaurants plus more shops on the left.

Eye Poppers in Downtown

The Elephant Room. This place isn't very well known, because you can walk right by and never notice it. It's in a basement on Congress. If you ever see this sign, do yourself a favor and go in/down. It's like nothing you've ever seen.

Just a few shop with merchandise in the windows on E 6th. Downtown Austin is full of these types of places.

The Driskill Hotel on 6th & Brazos. Built in 1886 and a true Austin landmark. Even Bill Clinton stayed here.

Irish Pubs - My Favorite Hangouts!!!

Mother Egan's has one of the best pints of Guinness in Austin. They have great service and an outside patio where you can smoke(Smoking's banned in Austin). It's allways amped when a big game is on. You can find it at 715 W 6th.

Fado. 214 W 4th. The coolest irish atmosphere, great irish food, and pretty nice pints too. You can't go wrong with Fado.

B.D. Riley's - Located at 204 E 6th. Awesome pints, blues music, and atmosphere.

Amli Downtown Apartments. You can see the huge neon-green beams on each side from miles away at night. It's on 2nd St in the shopping district.

Whole Foods Market. Located at 6th & Lamar. It's the largest Whole Foods store in the country. Also home of the corporate headquarters.

Good Eats W. 6th (West of Congress)

Katz's Deli and Bar. You can find it at the intersection of W 6th & Rio Grande. They opened their doors in 1979 and delivered New York style cuisine to Austin. Katz's Never Kloses!!!

Frank and Angie's Pizzeria. Located directly behind Hut's Hamburgers. If you want good pizza in downtown Austin, then look no further. This is the way pizza should be. There are several "pizza pies" on the menu. It's the real deal.

Hut's Hamburgers. Allways good, all the time. They've been open since 1939. Tons of history inside this place. This is the way a burger joint should be. The burgers are awesome and it's located on W 6th. God Bless Hut's.

Let There Be MUSIC!!!!!

Antone's. Austin pride and joy. This venue helped put the Austin music scene on the map. Founded by Clifford Antone from Port Arthur, Tx(also my hometown). SRV made his mark here and countless other musicians have been discovered at this venue. Austin's best musicians gather here and you never know who you'll run into if your there. It's rich in history and hopefully will be around for another 30 years.

The Austin Music Hall has recently been renovated and expanded. It went from 22,000 to 43,000 sq ft. It can now hold nearly 7,500 people comfortably. It's located on the corner of 3rd & Nueces. It's known for hosting big national acts coming thru town and having lines a couple blocks long before a show. They kept the famous original neon sign and it's now inside the venue. If you look hard enough you can see it.

La Zona Rosa has been a large contributor to the music scene in Austin. It is on the corner of 4th & Rio Grande. It hosts national acts all week long and is one of the most prestigious venues in the city.

Waterloo Records opened on April 1, 1982. It is voted year after year best record store in Austin. It has stayed true to its roots and is the place where most people go to by a new cd or even vinyl. It has a awesome "old school" feel inside. It's on the corner of 6th & Lamar.

Just a Few High Rises at Night

Frost Bank Tower on 4th and Congress. It's been a symbol of the city since it's completion in late 2003. It was the first high-rise building to be constructed in the U.S. after the 9/11 attacks.

360 Condominiums is located on 3rd and Nueces. It's currently the tallest biulding in Austin standing 563 feet with 44 floors. It was completed in late 2008.

This is the Monarch apartments. It has 30 floors and is located on 5th. The lights on top change colors throughout the night. It was originally going to be condos, but plans changed during construction for the units to be apartments instead.
